During a particularly trying production, a director quoted the old cliche, “When life hands you lemons, make lemonade.” Later in the run, the stage manager was wandering into a card shop when he found two little stuffed bears: one holding a cup of lemonade, and one dressed like a lemon. He bought them immediately. At the cast party, he revealed that he and the production team had discussed who had earned the honor of these awards: one for the greatest goof, and one for the greatest save. Here you will find the archives of these awards.

Dear Friend of the Columbia Community Players,

As you may be aware, in common with many other local theatre groups, the Columbia Community Players have been experiencing difficulties over the past few years in drawing sufficient audience support to cover our operating costs. Despite the generous contributions from many of our patrons and the Howard County Arts Council, our financial situation has continued to weaken.

In order to continue to provide quality theater to you, our patrons, our Board of Directors has been striving to broaden our base of support. Unfortunately, we have recognized that we do not currently have sufficient resources to undertake the necessary tasks to do so while continuing to provide our audience with productions of the artistic quality that you deserve.

Therefore, we are reluctantly going on what we hope will be a one-year hiatus to allow us to focus on finding those additional resources, such as corporate sponsorships and increased membership, that will allow us to continue. Any assistance you might be able to offer would also be highly welcome, whether it is your tax deductible contribution, your thoughts and ideas, or your active participation. Any contributions should be sent to : Columbia Community Players, 5185 Sheppard Lane, Ellicott City, MD 21042. Any contribution of $10 or more qualifies you as a member in good standing.

We will be holding open meetings every third Sunday of the month beginning with October 19th at the home of one of our members. For the address, please call (410) 637-5289. Please feel free to join us, and share your thoughts on methods to increase our audience or any other areas that interest you. If you prefer, you can also contact us either through our hotline at (410) 637-5289, or via e-mail to columbiacommunityplayers@gmail.com.

Sincerely,

Mark T. Allen
President, Columbia Community Players
C/o 5185 Sheppard Lane
